Glasgow to Welcome Slovaks
Braehead Arena will host Davis Cup fixture
Posted Nov 02, 2011 by Chris White
Great Britain will return to one of their favourite arenas for the Europe/Africa Zone Group 1 match in February against Slovakia. The match will take place at Glasgow’s Braehead Arena, the scene of recent victories against Luxembourg and Hungary, which secured their promotion back to the second tier of the Davis Cup.
The Glaswegian crowd, and captain Leon Smith, will be hoping to have world number three Andy Murray available again, having played in the two previous wins, and Smith said “We’re looking forward to returning to Glasgow and we know it’s a venue with a really supportive atmosphere.
“Slovakia will be touch to beat, but if we get a full house behind us again, there’s no reason why we can’t get off to a winning start.”
The match takes place on 10th February, and the winners will go on to face Belgium in July, with the prize of a place in the World Group play-offs on offer.
